Molten glass was brought to the stairwell, where heat and gravity were left to take the lead. The glass was picked up on the end of the same pipe that had dropped it, taking shape as it was carried back to the hot shop and set in an unfired kiln to self-anneal, then rehung in the space that had shaped it.
